"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

I tried to get my dad to DeMuro.
It didn't work. Despite the whine from the supercharger and the V8 roar. Despite the sensation of sports-car speed in something the size of a house. Despite the fact that you could easily end up going way too fast and doing about four miles to the gallon (no, I'm not lying, although I'm not sure that helped). Despite the off-roadability and the cool factor and the lovely interior. Even despite the very reasonable price tag. And despite the fact that I liked it. His parting words upon leaving the dealer?
"What a stupid vehicle."

My mom would be driving a Range Rover if my dad wasn't against British cars. It's weird, he would drive a mini because it's really a BMW.

My mom almost got a red Range Rover before her first A6 Avant, but the salesman basically talked her out of the RR and into the Audi because of the reliability issue.

Don't worry - there are plenty of other unreliable vehicles at CarMax for him to choose from.

I am hoping and praying for some sort of fast Audi sedan at our local Carmax. I think he is slowly running out of reasons why he shouldn't buy one with a Carmax warranty.

Does she still have the Avant?

No, but she bought another one. And then another one, which is the one she currently has.

Indians own LR now, I believe. He can now buy one.

Real carefully, too.

I thought he was looking at an escalade previously?

The Escalade was more of a "for future reference", and a car we both really wanted to see, as it costs about twice as much as he wants to spend.
And even will all the praise, he called that stupid too. He thinks all the huge luxury SUVs (Range Rover, Escalade, Navigator, G) are stupid. He's okay with the midsize ones like the X5, for some reason.

Land Rovers post-2009/2010 have actually proven to be very reliable.

This is a 2007 I believe.

Well believe it or not, the Tata takeover actually added massive quality control to them. Takeover was in 2008, but 2009/10 was when it started showing fairly well.

They are totally stupid but that's what's great about them. they make no sense at all but I can't help but love them.

I love them very much, and I think he does to, but he's basically saying that it would be stupid of him to buy one because he doesn't need a huge truck and what he really wants is a sports sedan (or crossover if we have to compromise).
